Not every band is destined to have a massive, lengthy career.
Sometimes they exist for a few years, put out some great music that we'll listen to for years to come, and then fade away.
Sometimes they come back, sometimes they don't.
Check out these eighteen relatively short-lived projects, whose members all have other notable bands that occupy their time, but still put out records that are still worth spinning today.
Asphalt Graves is vocalist Jason Netherton (Misery Index), guitarist Adam Faris (ex-War Torn), bassist Brent Purgason (Gwar), and drummer Shannon Lucas (Serpentine Dominion).
They released The New Primitive in 2016 and a tape pressing in 2019, but other than that – nothing.
The Company Band features Neil Fallon (Clutch), guitarists James A.
Rota and Dave Bone, bassist Brad Davis (Fu Manchu), and drummer Jess Margera (CKY).
They released their self-titled album in 2009, had an EP called Pros & Cons in 2012, and has since faded away.
Conquering Dystopia is guitarists Jeff Loomis (Arch Enemy) and Keith Merrow, bassist Alex Webster (Cannibal Corpse), and drummer Alex Rudinger.
They released their self-titled album in 2014 and were working on a follow-up record as of 2019.
Dunsmuir is vocalist Neil Fallon (Clutch), guitarist Dave Bone, bassist Brad Davis (Fu Manchu), and drummer Vinny Appice.
They released four 7" singles leading up to their 2016 debut album, but haven't said anything since 2017.
Expulsion recorded their debut EP Nightmare Future in 2017 as vocalist Matt Harvey (Exhumed), guitarist Matt Olivo, bassist Menno Verbaten, and drummer Danny Walker.
Outside some posts from 2017 promoting the EP, Expulsion has remained dead quiet.
Fleshwrought is vocalist Jonny Davy and multi-instrumentalist Navene Koperweis.
They put out one record Dementia / Dyslexia in 2010 and despite some teases, never followed it up.
God Seed was formed after the Gorgoroth band name dispute in the late 2000s and only got around to releasing I Begin in 2012.
Hey, speaking of a bunch of the God Seed guys! I released their sole album Between Two Worlds in 2006 and we're still talking about how insanely good it is.
John Frum is vocalist Derek Rydquist (The Zenith Passage), guitarist Matt Hollenberg, bassist Liam Wilson, and drummer Eli Litwin.
They released A Stirring In The Noos in 2017, and as of 2023 may soon get removed from this list.
Lesser Key is vocalist Gilden Tunador, guitarist Brett Fanger, bassist Paul d'Amour (Ministry), and drummer Justin Hanson.
Lesser Key released their debut self-titled EP in 2014 and then fell silent for a while.
Murder Construct formed way back in the early 2000s, but only released an EP and an album between 2010 and 2012.
Necromancing The Stone is vocalist John Williams (ex-Brimstone Coven), guitarists James Malone and Justin Wood, bassist Bart Williams, and drummer Jeramie Kling.
They released their gloriously heavy metal debut Jewel Of The Vile in 2016 and, aside from one post in 2021, has been dead quiet since 2018.
Storm Corrosion is the project featuring Opeth's Mikael Ă…kerfeldt and Porcupine Tree's Steven Wilson.
It's been 10 years since their one and only album, and Wilson said earlier in 2021 that he likes to think there will be another one someday.
And hey – we got a Porcupine Tree reunion, so maybe there could really be another Storm Corrosion record? At least there was talk of a reissue.
Serpentine Dominion is vocalist George 'Corpsegrinder' Fisher (Cannibal Corpse).
They released their debut album in 2015 and have been chipping away at some new material as of late 2021."
