In a new interview with Gastão Moreira of Brazil's Kazagastão, Alex Van Halen spoke about the album he is working on with TOTO guitarist Steve Lukather.

The drummer said they are taking unreleased material from the late Eddie Van Halen vaults and completing it with Lukather's help.

Some good stuff was left in the vaults that they didn't release at the time, but revisiting them shows their musicality still holds up.

They aim to have the album come out as well as possible.

They're looking for a suitable vocalist to complete the record.

Alex Van Halen had previously mentioned there's enough material for 'three or four records' in the vaults.

The project is a result of Lukather and Eddie Van Halen working together previously on projects like Michael Jackson's "Beat It" and Steve's debut solo album.

Lukather has clarified his involvement, saying he won't play guitar on any VAN HALEN songs, but will help with completing the recordings.

Alex Van Halen mentioned that they're looking for someone in their age group who understands their musical experience.

He noted that music is about shared experiences and depth.

This project aims to pay homage to Eddie Van Halen's memory while creating something new.

Lukather has been open about his close relationship with Eddie and the band, expressing sadness over his passing and admiration for his talent.

The iconic VAN HALEN axeman passed away on October 6, 2020, at age 65, due to complications from cancer.

He was inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame in 2007, and Rolling Stone magazine ranked him No. 8 in its list of the 100 greatest guitarists."
