After serving as Arch Enemy's vocalist for over a decade, Alissa White-Gluz has announced her departure from the Swedish metal group.
The news was made public yesterday on International Women's Day, when Alissa revealed that she is now working on a new project alongside Dani Sophia called Blue Medusa.
In an Instagram post announcing the band, Alissa writes: "The year of the snake is finally over – now it’s time to shed the skin.
Today, on International Women’s Day, I’m proud to announce my new band: BLUE MEDUSA.
After twenty years performing on the world’s biggest stages, I’m entering a new creative chapter.
Blue Medusa is the next evolution of everything I’ve been building toward; a project where my full artistic vision can exist without limits.
You’ll hear blazing guitar solos, crushing riffs, brutal vocals, fast and aggressive drums, thoughtful melodies, and deeply introspective lyrics layered with meaning." The band features an impressive lineup of musicians: Alyssa Day on guitar, Dani Sophia on guitar, Delaney Jaster on drums, and Alicia Vigil on bass.
The group plans to make its live debut at Louder Than Life and Aftershock festivals.
In a press release, Alissa stated that Blue Medusa is her "creative melting pot" and that the music will feature "blazing guitar solos, crushing riffs, brutal vocals, fast and aggressive drums, thoughtful melodies and most importantly (to me), really cognitive lyrics." This news comes after Alissa teased the project three weeks ago with a 'Meet The Band' Reel on Instagram featuring Dani Sophia and Alyssa Day.
With her full artistic vision now unleashed, fans can expect new music from Blue Medusa soon.
