The new BON JOVI tribute band ALWAYS JOVI, led by TRIXTER guitarist/singer Steve Brown, performed on May 9 at Dr.
Pepper Park Amphitheater in Roanoke, Virginia.
Fan-filmed video of the concert can be seen below.
ALWAYS JOVI made its live debut on April 18 at BMI Event Center in Versailles, Ohio.
In a recent interview with Mark Strigl, Brown stated about ALWAYS JOVI: "It's a tribute like no other." He explained that as a musician, he has had to do multiple things to make ends meet and has played in different tribute bands over the last 20 years.
Brown noted that his voice sounds just like Jon Bon Jovi at his prime, which inspired him to create ALWAYS JOVI.
Regarding what separates ALWAYS JOVI from other BON JOVI tribute acts, Steve said: "I looked at all the BON JOVI bands around the world and around the country.
Some of my friends are in SLIPPERY WHEN WET — great guys.
They do more of the lookalike thing, if you will." However, ALWAYS JOVI focuses on capturing the true spirit and energy of the band they are paying tribute to.
Brown's personal connection to BON JOVI is deeply rooted in his history with the band.
He was mentored by Jon Bon Jovi himself and has been a long-time admirer of their music.
Brown has also had the opportunity to jam with Dave Bryan, BON JOVI's keyboardist, in December, which further solidified his admiration for the band.
Always Jovi features Steve Brown on vocals and guitar, Joey Cassata on drums, Devon Marie on vocals and percussion, Kevin Humphris on bass and vocals, Fred Gorhau on guitar and vocals, and Chris McCoy on keyboards and vocals.
The band's performance at Dr.
Pepper Park Amphitheater was met with praise from fans and critics alike, with SiriusXM radio personality Eddie Trunk commenting: "Always Jovi captures the true spirit and energy of the band they are paying tribute to.\
