Swedish metal legends Amon Amarth have released their new album The Allfather Awakens via Metal Blade Records. The ten-song album marks a new chapter in the band's legacy, drawing inspiration from Norse mythology and the deity Oden, who serves as a central theme throughout the record. The album features Amon Amarth's first-ever acoustic track, "Upphaf," and includes the singles "Gjallarhorn" and "Eight Legs of Thunder," both of which have become fan favorites. The band took a new songwriting approach, with compositions developed during tours and recorded in two separate sessions at producer Jacob Hansen’s studio in Denmark. Guitarist lineup shifted slightly toward a more traditional sound, with the use of Marshalls over modern amps. The music was written before the lyrics, establishing a strong sonic foundation.
The Allfather Awakens will be performed live in an expanded production inspired by Oden’s legendary Golden Hall, transforming the concert experience into a living extension of the album. The tour begins October 9 in Manchester, UK, and spans across the UK and Europe through November 15. Dates include London, Paris, Stuttgart, Frankfurt, Antwerp, Gothenburg, Helsinki, Tallin, Gliwice, Leipzig, and beyond. The full tour schedule is available at https://amonamarth.com/tour/.
Physical editions of the album include CD, vinyl, cassette, and digital formats with bonus tracks and exclusive artwork. The album is released globally with variant packaging, including a limited edition liquid vinyl with an 'Oden Eye' design. The tracklist features songs such as "Gjallarhorn," "Eight Legs Of Thunder," "Kvasir’s Blood," and "The Allfather Awakes." The release is available on all major platforms and through official band and label channels. Amon Amarth continues to expand their live presentation, aligning it directly with the thematic depth of the new record.
