Prog-rock legends Asia have released a new mini-documentary detailing their spectacular rise and implosion in the 1980s.
The band, which outsold everyone in 1982 with their iconic debut album, has been revisited by Geoff Downes with the current line-up of Virgil Donati on drums, John Mitchell on guitars, and Harry Whitley on bass and vocals.
The new live version of "Only Time Will Tell" is out now alongside an official live video.
The single arrives ahead of Asia's upcoming live album, "Asia – Live In England," set for release on March 13 via Frontiers Music Srl.
Downes reflected on the new rendition of the song: "This was a key track from our first album in the USA, but it became an even bigger hit when released as a single on this side of the Atlantic." He continued: "We've always enjoyed playing this one live due to each member's distinctive contribution." The live album captures Asia performing their iconic debut album in full, along with a selection of their greatest hits.
This release marks the first of three live recordings from Trading Boundaries in Sussex earlier this year.
"We revisited the entire first Asia album and it brought back all the great memories," Downes shares.
"In the studio with John, Steve, Carl, and Mike Stone at the production helm, we knew we'd made a good album but couldn't have predicted its massive success." The live tracklisting includes fan favorites like "Heat Of The Moment," "Only Time Will Tell," "Sole Survivor," and more.
Asia's legacy spans over 40 years – from multi-million selling albums like Alpha to defining the sound of the MTV era.
This new line-up proves that their iconic songs are still thrilling a whole new generation of fans.
A pre-order is available now for "Asia – Live In England." Follow Asia on Spotify and be notified automatically when their new album releases later this year.
