Swedish melodic death metal pioneers AT THE GATES have topped the official chart in their home country.
Their latest album, The Ghost of a Future Dead, has reached number one on the Swedish physical, vinyl and hard rock charts.
This marks the first time ever that AT THE GATES has entered the main Swedish album chart at No.
The album was released on April 24 via Century Media Records.
It serves as a tribute to the band's late frontman Tomas Lindberg, who passed away in September 2025.
Recorded and mixed by Jens Bogren at Fascination Street Studios in Örebro, Sweden, The Ghost of a Future Dead comes with artwork created by Robert Samsonowitz.
In an interview with Finland's Chaoszine, AT THE GATES bassist Jonas Björler reflected on the final months of Tomas's life.
He stated that it was like being on a rollercoaster ride with positive and negative news alternating weekly.
The last month of Tomas's life was particularly bad due to massive infections and complications from his cancer treatment.
However, Jonas maintains that Tomas remained always positive about his chances of beating the cancer.
As for what fans can expect from The Ghost of a Future Dead, Jonas believes that if they like At War With Reality, they will enjoy the new album as well.
The band had also returned to its roots with this latest release, blending elements from their previous albums 'Slaughter Of The Soul' and 'At War With Reality'.
AT THE GATES had previously released their definitive album Slaughter of the Soul on Earache in 1995 before touring the world and abruptly disbanding.
Members of the band went on to play major roles in other notorious metal acts such as THE HAUNTED and CRADLE OF FILTH, before reforming in 2008 with Lindberg juggling his day job as a teacher with being a death metal frontman.
The band had also parted ways with its guitarist Jonas Stålhammar in August 2022, but reunited with founding member Anders Björler who returned to the band's lineup in October 2022 after a handful of years of absence.
The Swedish chart results are now official – thank you for celebrating AT THE GATES' success on social media!"
