In an excerpt from the chat, Attila Csihar talks about when Metallica paid tribute to the Norwegian black metal legends in the music video for their 2016 song “ManUNkind,” which featured actors portraying Per “Dead” Ohlin and Øystein “Euronymous” Aarseth.

When asked about Mayhem having discussions about their treasured history, Csihar says that “We don’t necessarily talk.

We are all living it, but it’s more like I talk about this with other bands.

When I meet other bands, my friends, we all know each other by now, we play together in the same festivals.

If we didn’t tour together, we all respect and know each other, and sometimes with them, I talk about this, like how things are crazy, you know? And then again, when I meet with people who make it big, for instance, Phil (Anselmo) from Pantera, we are friends, or when Metallica made that video about us (“ManUNkind”), it’s super intense, like how everything is all connected.” Attila Csihar: “Oh, shit.

I didn’t know, wow.

That’s crazy.

I didn’t know.” BraveWords: So what did that do to Mayhem’s career? Did people put two and two together? Attila Csihar: “It was just amazing to see.

We didn’t know.

I was surprised, we didn’t know anything.

I was like, ‘What? They did a video about us? That’s crazy’.

I think I will meet the guys.

I’ve never seen them live, but they will play in Budapest now.

In June, I will be home, finally.

So I will try to go to the show and I think probably I will meet the guys and I will ask them, ‘Hey, where did this idea come from?'” Watch for BraveWords’ entire chat with Mayhem singer and visionary Attila Csihar in the coming days!
