Norwegian heavy metal band AVRAK has revealed its self-titled debut album, "Avrak," set for release on October 9 via Peaceville. The album, recorded, mixed, and mastered in February 2026 at Mølla Studio by Knut Magne Valle, blends classic heavy metal with doom rock elements and features synth passages and black metal influences. The band was founded in November 2023 by guitarists Anders Hegna and Ted "Nocturno Culto" Skjellum, who have known each other for over a decade. Skjellum confirmed that the band's music is a fusion of their distinct guitar styles, with Hegna emphasizing a rock-oriented sound and Skjellum a more metal-driven approach. The album's first single, "Unborn," is now available for streaming.
The debut album was completed following a five-day creative session in a mountain cabin, where the band first played together. AVRAK officially held its debut live show in Porsgrunn in late April 2026, backed by bassist Steinar Gundersen. The band has confirmed plans to expand its live presence in the coming months to support the album's release.
AVRAK's musical direction is described as a "monumental heavy metal voyage from the peak of the mountains to the depths of the seas," with themes centered on empowerment amid societal corruption. The lineup includes Anders Hegna on guitars and vocals, Ted Skjellum on guitars, Moog guitar and additional vocals, Terje Kråbøl on drums, and Steinar Gundersen on bass. The band has confirmed that future performances will build on the foundation established during their initial live outing. The full album tracklist includes: Forever Mountain, Unborn, Long May The Lums Reek, Rot, Varde, Cloaks Of Power, The Lonely Shadow, The Rift, and Hav.
