Doom metal duo Bell Witch and ambient project Aerial Ruin have reunited for a second collaborative album titled Stygian Bough Vol. II, set to release on November 14.
The first single from the upcoming record, 'Waves Became the Sky', is now available.
Dylan Desmond of Bell Witch expressed his excitement about the track: 'We're thrilled to unveil 'Waves Became the Sky' today.
It serves as a well-rounded introduction to Stygian Bough Volume II, with lyrical references to several albums in our catalog.' The record was produced by Billy Anderson (Agalloch, Pallbearer) and delves into a world where different forms of worship intertwine, empower, eclipse, and destroy one another.
Aerial Ruin's Erik Moggridge added that 'All four songs explore different aspects of worship or awe – transcendent experiences in various contexts.' The cover art for the album was painted by Denis Forkas (Behemoth, Wolves in the Throne Room), whose work immediately resonated with Desmond due to its symbolism of the severed head.
Pre-orders are available, and further details about the album, including full tracklist, artwork, and release formats, will be revealed in the coming months.
In the meantime, tickets for Bell Witch and Aerial Ruin's upcoming European tour with 40 Watt Sun can be purchased here.
The tour includes stops in cities such as Warsaw, Vienna, Munich, Paris, London, Brussels, and more.
