British guitarist, singer, and songwriter Billy Morrison is gearing up to release his fourth solo album, Hollow, on August 7 via TLG | ZOID distributed by Virgin Music Group.
The album announcement comes with the title track's single release today (June 12) along with an artful lyric video that explores Morrison's life as a homeless addict.
The Mike Savage-directed video blends black and white urban footage from the UK with surrealist imagery.
Morrison, who has spent 17 years playing rhythm guitar for Billy Idol alongside lead guitarist Steve Stevens, describes the album's title track as inspired by his time on the streets begging for money.
"The life that I led when I was homeless and addicted to heroin leaves an indelible mark on your soul," he says.
Hollow will follow Morrison's successful solo debut The Morrison Project via TLG | ZOID distributed by Virgin Music Group in 2024.
His latest album features collaborations with various artists, including Dexter Holland, Marilyn Manson, Chuck D, B Real, Duff McKagan, Steve Stevens, and Sully Erna.
Morrison has also released a Q&A about the track and video, where he delves into his musical development as a guitarist.
"I think it was only a matter of time before I somewhat 'graduated' as a guitar player into the category known as lead guitarist," he explains.
The album Hollow will feature 12 songs, with half sung by Morrison and half sung by guest artists.
The single "Becoming" (feat.
Sully Erna) has already surged at rock radio, hitting #20 this week on Billboard's “Mainstream Rock” chart.
Morrison is a multifaceted artist known for his guitar work, solo albums, and visual art exhibitions.
He regularly hosts a show called "Influenced," where he explores the relationship between music and fine art on SiriusXM’s Ozzy’s Boneyard (ch.
38).
