Hansi Kürsch, the frontman of Blind Guardian, has released a new video message updating fans on the progress of the band's songwriting sessions for their follow-up album to 'The God Machine'.
Kürsch states that the band is back from touring and has been working on new material during this downtime.
However, he warns that the songwriting process is still in its early stages and will take another four to five months before it can be more precisely defined.
Kürsch acknowledges that the band did some songwriting during their recent tour but set it aside for now.
He expresses a desire to work on new music with fresh minds and a willingness to explore different styles, including acoustic albums.
However, he also notes that the band is always working on other projects and that the next album's direction will be influenced by these efforts.
Kürsch has previously discussed plans for an upcoming acoustic album, but now suggests that this project may take some time to complete.
He explains that the band's touring schedule has been longer than usual, but they are currently preparing to enter the studio for new songwriting sessions.
The German power metal band is known for their symphonic and orchestral elements in their music, and Kürsch hints at a possible return to more traditional Blind Guardian sound after exploring hybrid styles like those found on 'The God Machine'.
However, he also mentions that the band's next album will likely be conceptual in nature, but not as sprawling as their 2019 release, 'Twilight Orchestra: Legacy Of The Dark Lands'.
BLIND GUARDIAN is working on new material following a long touring period.
Kürsch says they've been focusing on songwriting and have accomplished much during this time, but the band still needs to work on some projects before entering the studio for new songwriting sessions.
