Boston vocalist Tommy DeCarlo has passed away at the age of 60 after a long battle with brain cancer.
His death was confirmed earlier today, Monday, March 9, by his family.
"It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of our Dad, Tommy DeCarlo," the family wrote on social media.
"After being diagnosed with brain cancer last September, he fought with incredible strength and courage right up until the very end." DeCarlo had been a member of Boston since 2007, following the death of the band's original lead vocalist, Brad Delp.
A GoFundMe page was launched last year to help cover DeCarlo's medical bills, which so far has raised over $56,000.
The musician suffered a sudden brain bleed in late September and underwent an emergency craniotomy during surgery.
He had another brain bleed and been hospitalized since late November.
DeCarlo had been forced to cancel his scheduled live concerts last fall due to his health issues, but vowed to return to the stage when he felt better.
"This was not an easy choice, as performing and sharing music with all of you around the world has been one of the greatest joys of my life," he wrote on social media at the time.
In addition to his work with Boston, DeCarlo had also pursued a solo career and formed a band called DECARLO with his son.
Their debut album, "Lightning Strikes Twice", was released in January 2020 through Frontiers Music Srl, while his solo album, "Dancing In The Moonlight", dropped in December 2022.
The music world is mourning the loss of this talented artist and performer.
