Sweden Rock Festival has shared video of IRON MAIDEN singer Bruce Dickinson cruising around in a tank before the band's headlining performance tonight (Thursday, June 4) at the four-day event.

During his February 2022 spoken-word show at Uptown Theater in Kansas City, Missouri, Dickinson recalled how he personally flew Royal Air Force pilots home from Afghanistan to RAF Wittering in 2008.

Dickinson revealed that during one flight, they returned 14 soldiers, who had taken some casualties and lost people, back to their base after being stationed in Afghanistan.

As they landed at RAF Wittering, Dickinson recalled looking out the window and seeing families of the soldiers waving signs saying "You're my hero, daddy" and other messages of support.

The singer reflected on how emotional this experience was for him and his co-pilot, who were both visibly moved by the scene unfolding outside the plane.

The flight was one of the most memorable ones Dickinson had experienced during his time as a pilot, which he had been doing for over 25 years, including commercially.

Dickinson's own history with the Royal Air Force is notable, having held the rank of Honorary Group Captain and being awarded this honor six years ago.
