Multi-national traditional and power metal band BURNING WITCHES has announced the departure of vocalist Laura Guldemond. Guldemond, who joined the band in June 2019 from Dutch symphonic metal group SHADOWRISE, has decided to step down after seven years with the group. She made her live debut with BURNING WITCHES at the Sweden Rock Festival in Sölvesborg, Sweden, in 2019.
The band confirmed the decision in a social media statement, emphasizing that all previously announced concerts will proceed as planned. For upcoming shows, including the November 7 performance at the Metal At Lust festival in Malta, vocalist Jennifer Gruber of FIREBORN will temporarily fill the role. The band has expressed gratitude for Gruber's support and stated that she will join them on stage for the festival.
A permanent replacement for Guldemond has not yet been named. BURNING WITCHES confirmed they are currently auditioning for a new frontwoman to take the band forward. The band reaffirmed that the spirit of BURNING WITCHES remains unbroken and that the coven stands united.
The group's sixth studio album, "Inquisition", was released in August 2025 via Napalm Records. The album was produced by Damir Eskic and V.O. Pulver, with songwriting led by founding guitarist Romana Kalkuhl. The announcement follows a period of internal reflection and mutual respect between the band and Guldemond, who expressed pride in the group's achievements and a commitment to pursuing new creative paths in music.
