After three decades, the experimental psych rock band's original songs are finally seeing release.

The album 'After the Astronaut', originally shelved by Capitol Records due to its unconventional sound, showcases BUTTHOLE SURFERS' forward-thinking psychedelia.

The release features Gibby Haynes's spoken word ranting and a mix of electronic beats, sparse heavy guitars, and industrial-influenced sounds.

Tracks like "Intelligent Guy" aim for radio-friendly music without commercial expectation, while others, such as sensual grooves on "Venus" and stuttered beats on "Imbuya", demonstrate the band's creativity with electronic textures.

The album also includes philosophical anthems like "Jet Fighter", an anti-war protest song applicable to any era.

The musically maniacal Texans, Gibby Haynes, Paul Leary, and King Coffey, struck creative gold with 'After the Astronaut', and now fans can properly appreciate it.
