In a recent interview with Clint Switzer of On The Road To Rock, CANDLEBOX frontman Kevin Martin confirmed that the band is working on a follow-up to their 2023 album "The Long Goodbye".

They have eight songs in progress and plan to release singles this year followed by a full album next year.

This news comes after Martin previously discussed his decision to retire from music during an appearance on SiriusXM's "Trunk Nation With Eddie Trunk" in July 2023, stating that he wanted to make one last record with the band before ending their career.

However, Martin expressed enthusiasm for continuing to tour and release new music, despite acknowledging the financial challenges facing the band.

In fact, Kevin said: "I don't ever wanna be a performer that phones it in on stage." This sentiment is echoed by his wife's response when he initially considered retiring: she insisted that he only retire if he was truly ready.

It remains to be seen whether CANDLEBOX will continue to produce new music and tour extensively, but one thing is clear: Kevin Martin has not yet hung up his microphone.

He also mentioned the return of original guitarist Peter Klett who brought a unique energy back to their live performances.

When asked about touring challenges since the release of their debut album in the '90s, Martin noted that expenses have skyrocketed due to inflation and social media pressures making it difficult for bands like CANDLEBOX to connect with fans and secure shows.
