Cathedral has announced a complete remix of its 2010 double album The Guessing Game, set for release on October 30, 2026, via Rise Above Records. The original album, released by Nuclear Blast, was produced by three-time Grammy Award winner Warren Riker and considered by the band as their most ambitious work to date. Although the band was satisfied with the initial production, they have long felt the original mix lacked the raw energy they envisioned.
Now, with full recording rights returned to the band, they have commissioned a complete remix of the album by longtime collaborator Jaime Gomez Arellano. The new version features a more stripped down, raw and powerful sound, with alternate takes and extended versions of tracks stretching over five sides of vinyl. This reimagined mix gives the album a revitalized energy, effectively transforming it into a more cohesive and powerful listening experience.
The reissue, titled The Guessing Game (Rethink), includes all original tracks with additional versions, offering a deeper dive into the album’s musical scope. The tracklist remains unchanged, featuring songs such as Immaculate Misconception, Funeral Of Dreams, Painting In The Dark, Death Of An Anarchist, The Guessing Game, Edwidge’s Eyes, Cats, Incense, Candles & Wine, One Dimensional People, The Casket Chasers, Ghost Galleon, The Running Man, and Requiem For The Voiceless. The release marks a significant update to one of Cathedral’s most expansive and diverse studio efforts.
