In a recent sit-down with VRP Rocks, former MEGADETH guitarist Chris Poland spoke about his time with the band and his relationship with frontman Dave Mustaine.
When asked about being called a 'liar' by Mustaine, Poland stated that it likely affected his career but ultimately didn't matter to him.
Poland has been writing a book called 'Now Leaving Metalopolis,' which includes stories about his experiences with MEGADETH and the band's dynamics.
Poland's book will feature humorous anecdotes as well as more serious discussions about the challenges he faced during his time in the band.
Four audio excerpts from the book have been released, featuring Poland's co-author Matt Herring reading from the manuscript.
Back in May 2025, Poland reflected on his MEGADETH tenure while appearing on 'The David Ellefson Show' video podcast.
He discussed how Mustaine's public comments about him hindered his ability to secure new gigs and deals.
Poland was a member of MEGADETH from 1984 to 1987 and performed on the band's classic albums 'Killing Is My Business...
And Business Is Good!' and 'Peace Sells...
But Who's Buying?' He also made appearances on their 2004 album, 'The System Has Failed.' In 2004, Poland filed a lawsuit against Mustaine regarding the use of the three 'Rust In Peace' demos on the album reissue without Chris's permission.
Poland has since moved on to focus on his own fusion band OHM:, releasing several studio albums.
He and former MEGADETH bassist David Ellefson have collaborated on a single called 'Lockdown,' featuring Poland as a guest musician.
The song is part of the duo's current project, KINGS OF THRASH.
This new interview with Poland offers insight into his experiences within one of heavy metal's most iconic bands.
