Cleopatra Records has announced the release of a live album capturing Johnny Thunders & The Heartbreakers' 1977 performance at the Village Gate in New York City. The recording, titled L.A.M.F. – Live At The Village Gate 1977, features performances of songs including "Chinese Rocks," "Pirate Love," and "Get Off The Phone." The album is now available on CD in a deluxe mini LP gatefold sleeve and on opaque pink vinyl.

The release coincides with a broader celebration of punk rock's 50th anniversary, during which Cleopatra will spotlight first-wave punk acts each month through 2026. Previous highlights included a tribute to the early UK punk scene, with upcoming releases set to feature additional acts such as The Damned, The Dickies, and The Dead Boys.

The Village Gate performance, recorded during a period of intense activity in the punk scene, is considered one of the band's most energetic live shows. According to guitarist Walter Lure, the audience responded with pogo dancing and enthusiastic participation, marking a peak in the group's live energy. The show was recorded shortly after Johnny Thunders' marriage and just days following Elvis Presley's death.

The release underscores the enduring influence of Johnny Thunders & The Heartbreakers within the punk rock legacy. Cleopatra also plans to launch additional Johnny Thunders and New York Doll releases in the coming months.
