COAL CHAMBER drummer Mikey "Bug" Cox has been fighting Stage 3 cancer since April 1, 2025.
After a yearlong battle with brutal rounds of radiation, chemotherapy, and surgery, Cox is now cancer-free.
He credits his recovery to the support of his family and medical team.
Cox says he felt motivated to fight cancer after stating his determination to his wife.
He continued working on building houses through his Bash Construction Group company while undergoing treatment.
Cox has partnered with Fxck Cancer to auction off a custom drum kit, with proceeds going towards cancer research and support.
The drummer reflects on the importance of cancer awareness and early detection in a statement.
"GRATITUDE" is a word that hits differently for Cox after his experience.
He plans to return to the stage post-cancer.
COAL CHAMBER recently completed a U.S.
tour as support for MUDVAYNE and played its first two shows in eight years at the Sick New World festival in Las Vegas in May 2023.
The band canceled its previously rescheduled "Fiend For The Fans" U.S.
tour due to Cox's health emergency after announcing the partnership with Fxck Cancer.
