Darkthrone have spent four decades becoming one of Norway’s most revered metal institutions.

Through total commitment to riffs, authenticity, and a refusal to follow trends, the duo of Fenriz and Nocturno Culto have built a legacy that has inspired generations while remaining fiercely individual. From the death/doom precision of Soulside Journey (1991), through their defining role in the early ’90s second wave of black metal, and onward into punk-driven and doom-laden territory, Darkthrone’s evolution has been both uncompromising and hugely influential.

To mark 40 years of Darkthrone, Peaceville Records will release a limited deluxe 10-disc box set, The Fist In The Face Of God, on March 6, 2026.

“This box celebrates 40 years through forests and over heath and includes a filmed interview with us, which is as rare as chicken teeth,” says Fenriz.

The set focuses on Darkthrone’s core black metal era, compiling nine essential albums from their most influential period, including the Peaceville “unholy trinity.” All albums have been freshly mastered by Patrick Engel at Temple of Disharmony, preserving the original sound while subtly refining it.

Each title is pressed on heavyweight vinyl and presented with its original artwork and sleeve design. The box also includes exclusive archival material, making The Fist In The Face Of God a definitive tribute to one of black metal’s most vital legacies.
