MEGADETH leader Dave Mustaine has revealed that his next memoir, “In My Darkest Hour”, will tentatively arrive in September 2027.

The book will detail Mustaine's “gnarly” treatment after he was diagnosed with squamous cell carcinoma at the back of his tongue in 2019.

In a new interview with WAPL Mornings With Laura Lee & Cutter, Mustaine spoke about the upcoming memoir, saying (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): “What I would say probably is the best way to summarize the book is it's the medical process and then what life was like at that time, and getting into the details.”The memoir will be co-written by The New York Times journalist Joe Layden, who previously worked with Mustaine on his “Mustaine: A Heavy Metal Memoir” autobiography.

"In My Darkest Hour" is being published via Grand Central Publishing's recently launched Da Capo imprint, which specializes in music-focused books.

The book's official description reads: \u201FFrom King of Metal Dave Mustaine, a powerful reflection on the harsh truths and raw realizations that can only come from confronting death.”This memoir follows the release of MEGADETH's 16th studio album, “The Sick, The Dying…And The Dead!”, which was inspired by Mustaine's cancer battle.

The album marks a new chapter in the band's storied history, with Mustaine chronicling his journey from radiation and chemotherapy appointments to recording sessions.

The book promises to be a raw and honest account of Mustaine's experiences, touching on themes such as perseverance, hope, and the resilience of the human spirit.

Fans can expect a unique perspective on Mustaine's life and career, as well as insights into the world of heavy metal music.
