MEGADETH leader Dave Mustaine has once again clarified his political stance in a new interview with Roisin O'Connor's Good Vibrations podcast.

In the conversation, transcribed by Blabbermouth.net, Mustaine explains that he is an independent voter who has voted for both Democrats and Republicans in the past.

Mustaine denies being a right-winger, stating that people have formed this narrative around him due to his outspoken views on politics and social issues.

He claims that many of those who have criticized him are 'bitter' individuals who have fallen out with the band or MEGADETH management over the years.

When asked about his experience attending a press conference in Peru last year, Mustaine discussed his efforts to promote civic engagement through heavy metal music.

The musician has come under fire for past statements on politics and social issues, including his claims of peeing on the floor of the White House bathroom during a visit in 1992.

Mustaine expressed pride in representing the metal community and its values in an interview with Ron Keel's Streets Of Rock 'N' Roll radio show.

The musician has also clarified his stance on voting for politicians, stating that he votes for whoever is the lesser of two evils.

In past interviews, Mustaine has voiced support for Republican presidential candidates like Rick Santorum and made headlines for suggesting onstage that President Obama was behind mass shootings.

When asked about his opinions on Barack Obama's birth certificate in 2012, Mustaine stated that he doubted the president's U.S. citizenship.

He also expressed frustration with media outlets taking his statements out of context and criticized President Obama's divisive rhetoric during a speech to Occupy Wall Street protesters.
