Grand Central Publishing's Da Capo imprint has announced a September 8 release date for Megadeth mainman Dave Mustaine's next memoir, "In My Darkest Hour".

The book will detail Mustaine's harrowing experience of battling cancer and finding strength in music.

In the memoir, Mustaine chronicles his seven-year journey through cancer treatment and onward into remission.

He recounts how confronting his own mortality brought him closer to his family, taught him how to ask for help, strengthened his faith, and challenged the vulnerability of his art.

Mustaine's memoir will explore how he continued to make music during his cancer battle, resulting in Megadeth's 16th studio album, "The Sick, The Dying…And The Dead!", which was released after his treatment ended.

Through his story, Mustaine aims to inspire readers and show that even the most invincible heroes are human.

Co-written by The New York Times journalist Joe Layden, "In My Darkest Hour" is a powerful reflection on the harsh truths and raw realizations that can only come from confronting death.

Ben Schafer, Da Capo's executive editor, describes the book as Dave Mustaine at his most revealing, vulnerable, and true.

This memoir follows the success of Mustaine's previous books, including "Mustaine: A Heavy Metal Memoir", which landed at position No.

15 on The New York Times best sellers list in August 2010.

Mustaine has also written a second book, "Rust In Peace: The Inside Story Of The Megadeth Masterpiece", released via Hachette Books in September 2020.
