Canadian metal maverick Devin Townsend has announced a solo tour across Europe and the UK, marking a significant return to the stage after a two-year hiatus.
The updated tour schedule includes shows in Madrid and Barcelona on October 9 and 10, 2026, respectively.
Tickets for the Metamorphosis Solo UK & European Tour 2026 are now on sale.
In a personal update shared via his newsletter, Townsend reflects on the emotional and physical toll of decades-long musical activity, describing how the recent completion of a project led to a period of creative stillness.
He notes that while music and creativity often surge during 'daydreaming' times, he has come to value intentional rest as much as active work.
'Not that I donāt like working, but music and creativity tend to well up in the ādaydreamingā times,' he writes.
Townsend emphasizes that after 35 years on the road, taking a break has been both necessary and complex.
He compares the transition from intense activity to rest to 'speeding along a freeway in 5th gear, then slamming it into reverse,' noting it takes months for the gears to settle.
'Thereās a ton of little projects weāre fortunate to keep doing,' he adds, 'but overall I finally get to take my foot off the gas for a few months.' The announcement comes as Townsend prepares to resume live performances, with the tour serving as a major step in his return to the stage.
