Canadian metal maverick Devin Townsend has recently announced his upcoming Metamorphosis Solo Tour 2026 – From Punky Brüster To The Moth, taking place in the UK and Europe in the fall.
An updated schedule was recently issued with shows in Dublin and Belfast on August 29 and 30 respectively.
His camp has now checked in with the following message:, “It has been a while since Devin hit the road.
So we decided to do something unorthodox.
On August 27, Devin will be hosting an open production rehearsal and we’re inviting members of our Patreon community to attend.
Only 50 tickets will go on sale (June 25) exclusively through Devin’s Patreon.
Nottingham has always been a UK city synonymous with alternative music, and the diary didn’t quite line up when putting the tour together so this seemed like the right place to come and make this special show happen.
So please sign up to Patreon and set your alarms for 11am BST on Thu June 25 if you would like to attend! Speaking with BraveWords about his monumental new album, The Moth, Townsend discussed the upcoming tour:, “When it comes to getting out there again, we have these opportunities with The Moth, eventually – if people give a shit about it – to do these big shows,” says Townsend.
“But I haven’t committed to doing them yet because it could be that people will say ‘The world is going crazy in 2026, this is not what I want to hear.’ However, if the response is such that the people want a live Moth show, absolutely.
I’ve got stories, we’ve got a stage play, we can use orchestras anywhere in the world, the scores are ready to go.
But, with Patreon, with the time that I’ve taken off, and with the uncertainty of what I want to do in a live format moving forward, doing a solo show was super interesting to me because I saw this thing online recently with one of those old time one-man shows, where he has a bass drum on his back, a harmonica and all that stuff.
I was wondering if we could do a digital version of that (laughs).”, “I started thinking about using this touring opportunity as a one-man thing, not only to keep the costs down, but also make it so that the show is more intimate and connect with the people that have supported me for so long.
Then, also, there have been a lot of new people involved with the work, and because of the dynamics of what we do is so all over the map., from ambient music to Strapping Young Lad, it’s hard to put my shit on a playlist and not scare the babies.
So basically, I can use these tours as an opportunity to give an overview of the brand; this is who I am, this is what I do, it’s not an indicator of mental illness (laughs).
As a human being, sometimes I feel like this, and sometimes I feel like that.” “I was in touch with a couple musicians, recently, some friends of mine who were part of these more seminal punk hardcore bands, and I think it would be cool to do a remake of Punky Brüster live with people who are legit.
But also do the whole story (laughs).
And this is the thing that I find where my creative compulsions go right now; ‘What if’s are the highest motivator.
This little interaction we had about Punky Brüster just now, that’s just as profound as The Moth was 10 years ago.
It’s all about ‘Oh, that would be fun…’ more than anything else.
That’s why the whole reason Strapping thing was so important me back then, because that was the same compulsion; ‘Oh, that’ll be fun.'” Watch for the complete feature story, coming soon., BraveWords Records… home for ALCATRAZZ, Bangalore Choir, Crimson Glory, Jack Starr, Voices of Extreme, Paul Di’Anno’s Warhorse, The Chris Slade Timeline, Rhett Forrester and Rob Robbins, Prophets of Addiction, ASKA, and Lillian Axe.
