Norwegian extreme metal titans Dimmu Borgir have unveiled their highly anticipated new single, "Ascent," which arrives alongside a visually arresting music video.

The track marks the second release from the band's upcoming album, Grand Serpent Rising, due May 22 via Nuclear Blast Records.

The album was recorded with acclaimed producer Fredrik Nordström in Gothenburg, Sweden.

Returning to their signature blend of symphonic grandeur and unrelenting aggression, Dimmu Borgir pushes their sound into darker territory on the new record.

Shagrath comments that Grand Serpent Rising is a reflection of every era of the band's legacy, with echoes of every chapter within it.

The album will be released in various formats, including CD jewelcase, 2LP + CD Mediabook, and multiple vinyl editions.

Dimmu Borgir have also announced a string of North American tour dates supporting Grand Serpent Rising, which will feature special guests Hypocrisy, Suffocation, and Hulder.

The tour begins August 7 in New York, NY and runs through August 23 in Los Angeles, CA.

In addition to the album and tour announcements, Dimmu Borgir has also been confirmed for a co-headlining tour with Behemoth across Europe and the UK, joined by special guests Dark Funeral.

The In League With Satan tour begins October 9 in Zurich, Switzerland and runs through October 30 in Copenhagen, Denmark.
