In a new interview with Kyle Meredith, FAITH NO MORE frontman Mike Patton reflected on the band's final bit of touring in 2016.
He described feeling a sense of closure after that run, stating: āI didnāt really think so at the time, but, yeah, maybe.
And I think that we all kind of felt it, but it was unspoken.ā The vocalist acknowledged his numerous musical projects away from FAITH NO MORE, saying: āIād never really understood, and I had to figure this out very early on, was the concept of a side project⦠But everything that Iāve done was of equal importance to me.
They just werenāt viewed that way.ā Last October, keyboardist Roddy Bottum expressed his reluctance to reunite with the band's other members due to Pattonās mental health issues.
Drummer Bill Gould clarified: āI donāt know.
I honestly donāt know⦠Weāre in a really weird spot now,ā adding: āIf I did call the shots, probably weād be playing in Chile next week.ā Bottum described FAITH NO MORE as being on āsemi-permanent hiatusā and other members of the band have shown support for Patton amidst his struggles with agoraphobia and depression.
After canceling its fall 2021 performances, Patton revealed he developed mental health issues during lockdown and started drinking heavily: āBecause I was isolated so much, going outside was a hard thing to do⦠And the idea of doing more FAITH NO MORE shows ā it was stressful⦠It affected me mentally.ā Despite this, Patton emphasized taking care of oneās self in his interview, stating: āIt was just like, āGoddamn it.
Maybe I donāt need to do this.ā Even though I agreed to do it, and itās gonna bum a lot of people out.
I gotta take care of myself.ā The band's future remains uncertain as Patton expressed: āWe may reschedule stuff; we may not⦠Itās a little confusing and complicated.ā
