Nightwish singer Floor Jansen has announced her upcoming solo album 'Hytress', set for release on January 15, 2027 via REVAMP Music/Warner Music. The album follows her 2023 debut solo release 'Paragon', which has amassed nearly 150 million streams to date.
Jansen emphasized that 'Hytress' would not sound like Nightwish or any previous work, aiming to explore a heavier, more compact sound distinct from the band's style. The album draws inspiration from bands such as BLEED FROM WITHIN, GOJIRA, and PERIPHERY, incorporating down-tuned guitar styles and a drum-and-bass foundation. Production decisions prioritize accessible choruses and a heavy sonic atmosphere, with guitar sounds morphed through digital programming to create immersive textures.
The album features 12 tracks, including 'Reverse Polarity', 'Everything Is Moving On', 'In Wildfire', 'Cathedral Of One', 'Bring Me Silence', 'Fighting', 'I Am Drowning', 'Rock The Bells', 'It's Time For Change', 'Verity', 'Run', and 'Haven'.
Nightwish has not been touring since 2024, following the release of 'Yesterwynde', and has announced no live shows in the foreseeable future. Jansen's career began with After Forever, where she was 16, before joining REVAMP and later Nightwish in 2013. She has toured extensively with the band and contributed to three live albums. In 2022, she confirmed being cancer free after surgery for a breast tumor. In 2023, she and Sabaton drummer Hannes Van Dahl welcomed their second child, a daughter named Lucy, while they already have a daughter named Freja born in 2017.
