In a new interview with The Growl Podcast, former CANNIBAL CORPSE guitarist Jack Owen discussed his decision to leave the band in 2004.
When asked about his departure by interviewer, Owen explained that it was due to a combination of personal changes and issues within the band.
He stated that life had been changing for him at the time, including a divorce and the passing of his mother.
Additionally, he cited managerial conflicts within the band as another reason for his departure.
Despite initial claims that he simply needed a change, Owen now reveals that it was due to more serious tensions with one of the band's managers.
Owen went on to describe CANNIBAL CORPSE's toxic environment under the management team at the time, which ultimately led to his decision to leave.
His comments come as no surprise given the band's long history of behind-the-scenes drama and conflicts.
Prior to his departure in 2004, Owen had been a part of CANNIBAL CORPSE for over 15 years, but his departure marked a significant shift in the band's lineup.
Since leaving CANNIBAL CORPSE, Owen has pursued other musical ventures, including work with DEICIDE.
He joined the death metal group in 2004 and appeared on four of their studio albums: "The Stench Of Redemption", "Till Death Do Us Part", "To Hell With God" and "In The Minds Of Evil".
In recent years, Owen has also been a part of the lineup for SIX FEET UNDER.
Born in Akron, New York, Owen developed his passion for heavy metal music early on.
He cites SLAYER and METALLICA as key influences in his musical career.
After his departure from CANNIBAL CORPSE, Owen went on to replace original guitarist Bob Rusay, who left the band in 1993.
Other notable lineup changes have included Rob Barrett's departure in 1997 and Pat O'Brien's later departure from the band.
