Former DEICIDE guitarist Jack Owen has discussed his approach to writing music for the Florida-based band and his current group SIX FEET UNDER.
In a new interview with Finland's Chaoszine, Owen touched on the differences between crafting material for DEICIDE and SIX FEET UNDER.
Speaking about DEICIDE's sound, Owen mentioned that he initially tried to write in a style similar to SLAYER, but this didn't quite work out as intended.
He noted that the lack of touring and creative blocks led him to re-evaluate his approach.
Owen's departure from DEICIDE was reportedly due to a disagreement over songwriting credits with drummer Steve Asheim.
However, Owen has moved on to SIX FEET UNDER, where he has found success co-writing with vocalist Chris Barnes.
The latest SIX FEET UNDER album, "Next To Die", was released in April via Metal Blade Records and marks the third collaborative effort between Barnes and Owen since reuniting in 2017.
