In a recent interview with Meltdown of Detroit's WRIF radio station, former VAN HALEN bassist Michael Anthony spoke about the band's dynamics during his time in the group.

When asked if he felt that it was ever Eddie Van Halen and Alex Van Halen versus him and Sammy Hagar due to personal relationships, Anthony replied: "Even from the beginning of VAN HALEN, it was always the brothers [standing firmly as one].

But people naturally say it's the brothers and everybody else.

However, thinking about it, I guess it was the brothers and everybody else." Anthony also discussed his personal friendship with Sammy, saying: "When I first met him, it was on a band level, and then as we hung out more and more, his affection towards cars really grasped me." Unfortunately Eddie Van Halen passed away in October 2020 from complications due to cancer.

Despite the passing of the iconic guitarist, VAN HALEN continues to tour with Wolfgang Van Halen on bass.

Anthony reflected on his time in the band, saying: "The biggest thing with when the band one was together with Sammy is Eddie and Alex both smoked a lot, and Sammy and I didn't smoke." He also shared a video of MAMMOTH WVH's concert in Las Vegas and a backstage photo of him and Wolfgang.

Michael stated that he hadn't seen Wolfgang in 20 years prior to their reunion at the House Of Blues show.

Anthony went on to discuss his personal feelings about being replaced by Wolfgang, saying: "I don't think it was a personal thing.

I think it was their love for me, it had nothing to do with you as a person." He also discussed how people's opinions of him have changed since he left the band.

Despite some negativity online after he was announced as stepping in for Anthony on VAN HALEN's reunion tour with David Lee Roth, Wolfgang Van Halen has spoken about how people are now understanding and apologizing to him for their past behavior.

Anthony concluded by discussing his time in the band and how it felt to be a part of one of rock's most iconic groups.
