In a new interview with Drew Stone of The New York Hardcore Chronicles Live!, RAVEN frontman John Gallagher once again talked about METALLICA opening for his band back in 1983 and 1984.

The trek marked METALLICA's first-ever tour.

The interview saw Gallagher reminisce about sharing the stage with METALLICA, particularly METALLICA's bass player Cliff Burton.

Asked if he had any recollections of the experience, John said: "Oh, yeah. Of course. You go on tour with somebody, if you get on with them, you're friends for life. It's like you've been in a war together or something." He continued to discuss METALLICA's early days and how they evolved into their more well-known sound.

Gallagher also praised Cliff Burton as "a real old soul on young shoulders," citing his love of fusion music and his iconic jeans with RUSH and BLUE ÖYSTER CULT patches.

Gallagher has previously spoken about what it was like for RAVEN to open for METALLICA at a November 2022 concert celebrating the life, legacy, and achievements of Megaforce Records founder Jon "Jonny Z" Zazula.

He reflected on how Jonny Z played a huge role in both their careers.

RAVEN will return to the live stage for an extensive North American tour of more than 35 shows from March through May this year, supported by SLACKJAW.

The band has postponed its previously announced summer/fall 2025 European tour due to John's health issues.

Considered part of the "New Wave Of British Heavy Metal" movement of the early '80s, RAVEN is perhaps best remembered for its trailblazing tours in America in the early '80s that gave groups like METALLICA and ANTHRAX their first taste of the road.
