In a recent interview with This Day In Metal, former QUEENSRŸCHE vocalist Geoff Tate weighed in on the culture of concert-going, specifically addressing the use of phones during live performances.

He expressed his opinion that while taking photos and videos can be a negative aspect of the experience, it ultimately depends on individual preference.

Tate recalled an incident from 2013 where he was involved in removing a phone from an audience member and throwing it into the crowd.

However, this action has been misinterpreted as a symbol of his disdain for concert-goers' behavior, which is not entirely accurate.

According to Tate, the person whose phone was taken laughed about the situation after the show.

Tate's views on phone-free concerts are relevant given that several metal bands have employed this approach recently.

Swedish metallers GHOST made their entire 2025 and 2026 tours phone-free experiences by requiring attendees to keep their phones secured in Yondr pouches at all times.

IRON MAIDEN has also requested fans put their phones away during concerts on their "Run For Your Lives" world tour.

Tate's current musical endeavors are marked by the release of QUEENSRŸCHE's concept album series, with his third chapter titled "Operation: Mindcrime III" coming out under his name in May 2024.

The new installment tells the story from Dr.

X's perspective, a notable departure from the previous installments that followed Nikki's storyline.\
