Legendary drummer Gil Moore recently spoke with BraveWords about his musical influences and experiences.

When asked if he remembered the moment when he decided music was his life, Moore recalled quitting school early to pursue a career in drumming.

His parents were supportive, particularly his father who encouraged him to become the best drummer possible.

Moore credits his father's business management skills as instrumental in helping him navigate the music industry.

He reminisced about meeting Jack Nicholas at a golf tournament and getting an autograph through his wife.

Moore also discussed his admiration for guitarists Billy Gibbons of ZZ Top, Leslie West of Mountain, Albert King, and Johnny Winter.

He recalled seeing Johnny Winter live and being blown away by his raw energy and blues-rock sound.

Moore shared stories about attending concerts featuring Ted Nugent, the Blue Angels' guitarist (who performed with Buddy Rich), and being just a few feet away from Buddy Rich's bass drum during a private concert in Toronto.

Moore praised Rich for his technical mastery of the drums and unique style, calling him 'the cavalry coming at you.' He notes that this experience has left an indelible mark on his appreciation of live music.

In 1994, Neil Peart recorded Burning for Buddy: A Tribute to the Music of Buddy Rich with Moxxon.

Moore's comments highlight the enduring impact of these experiences and artists on his musical journey.
