Canadian guitarist Glen Drover, who spent four years in Megadeth alongside his drummer brother Shawn Drover, has spoken about his 2008 exit from the band.
The departure was reportedly due to personal reasons rather than musical issues.
"Personally β and not musically," Drover explained.
"Musically, I was fine.
It was a lot to do with my family and just personal issues that I had." He clarified that tensions with frontman Dave Mustaine were not as high as might be expected given the circumstances: "I think for the most part.
Dave was upset, but I think he also understood as well, to a pointβ¦" Drover went on to discuss how he recommended three guitarists β Jeff Loomis, Chris Broderick and Jeff Waters β as potential replacements after his own departure.
Chris Broderick ultimately joined Megadeth after Drover left the band.
This interview sheds new light on Glen Drover's time in Megadeth and highlights the unique chemistry between him and Shawn Drover.
