Glenn Hughes Discusses Working with Tony Iommi and Ritchie Blackmore

In a recent interview with BraveWords, the legendary voice of Black Sabbath's Seventh Star album, Glenn Hughes, opened up about his experiences working with guitar icons Tony Iommi and Ritchie Blackmore.

When discussing his time in the studio with Iommi, Hughes recalled working on tracks like “Turn To Stone” and “In For The Kill,” which were later featured on the Seventh Star album.

Hughes described working with Black Sabbath's guitarist as “different personality-wise, noting that Iommi was “mysterious as fucking all hell.“ However, he praised Iommi as a songwriter and friend.

Hughes also reflected on his time with Ritchie Blackmore, saying he found him to be “darker, but acknowledging his talent as a songwriter.

Hughes also discussed the tumultuous period following Dio's departure from Black Sabbath, describing it as “a mess.” He recalled jokingly asking Tony Martin if there was anyone in charge at the time.

When asked about Sharon and Don Arden's role during that period, Hughes nodded in agreement.

The interview with Glenn Hughes also touched on his own experiences working with Ronnie James Dio, who had recently passed away.

Hughes remembered his friend as “number one Ronnie, praising their enduring friendship and musical bond.

Hughes concluded by referencing his own solo career and the struggles he faced during the 1980s.
