In a new interview with the Thunder Underground podcast, GREAT WHITE guitarist Mark Kendall spoke about vocalist Brett Carlisle's audition for 'American Idol.' The episode aired on February 9.

Carlisle sang GREAT WHITE's classic ballad 'House Of Broken Love,' backed by Kendall on guitar and fellow GREAT WHITE member Michael Lardie on piano.

According to Kendall, the experience was 'a lot of fun' and the group was fully supportive of Carlisle's pursuit.

The audition took place at Nashville's Belmont University, where judges Carrie Underwood, Lionel Richie, and Luke Bryan were impressed by Carlisle's performance.

As a result, he earned a golden ticket to Hollywood, where he will compete alongside other hopefuls for a chance to continue on the nationally televised singing competition.

Regarding GREAT WHITE's current lineup with Carlisle as vocalist, Kendall stated that it has been 'a godsend' to have someone with his youth and talent.

The group's fans are also enthusiastic about Carlisle's addition, with many expressing their approval online after seeing fan-filmed videos of the band's performances.
