Metal Mayhem ROC recently conducted a new interview with Gus G.

about his latest solo album, Steel Burner.

During the chat, Gus reflected on his years performing alongside Ozzy Osbourne during the Scream touring cycle, recalling Ozzy’s desire to push the band’s live performances far beyond the standard touring format.

"Ozzy wanted to keep adding songs," Gus explained.

"At one point we were talking about doing almost three-hour shows overseas.

Europe and Asia especially, the crowds were just incredible during that run." The guitarist described the Scream era as a uniquely energized period for the band, with expanded setlists allowing the lineup to explore deeper cuts alongside the expected classics.

Gus also reflected on the challenge of balancing endurance with consistency during extended touring runs.

"We were playing a lot every night, and Ozzy was really motivated," he said.

"You could feel he wanted to give fans everything possible." Gus discussed the collaborative spirit behind Steel Burner and his decision to blend instrumental material with featured vocal performances by several respected names in metal.

"This time I wanted the best of both worlds," Gus explained.

"I still love instrumental guitar music, but I also wanted to work with singers that I admire and really build songs around different voices." The album features collaborations with Doro Pesch, Ronnie Romero, Matt Barlow, and Dino Jelusick, each bringing a unique character to the material.

With Steel Burner, Gus G.

delivers a confident forward-looking statement – an album that honors the roots of heavy metal while boldly embracing modern themes, production, and the power of collaboration.
