The leaders of symphonic black metal, Britain's Hecate Enthroned, has returned after a seven-year hiatus with a new single.
The ferocious "Gallery Of Rotting Portraits" is now available at all digital platforms and features a lyric video created by Jack Maguire from artwork by Erskine Designs.
Bassist Dylan Hughes explains the song's concept: "'A Gallery Of Rotting Portraits' uses the morbid preservation of peat bogs as a metaphor for obsolete devotion." The single marks the first glimpse of their upcoming album, "The Corpse Of A Titan, A Lament Long Buried," which is scheduled for release on May 29 via Digipak CD and limited-edition colored vinyl.
Fans can preorder packages with exclusive merch designs through the M-Theory Audio store.
Produced by Hecate Enthroned and Dan Abela, "The Corpse Of A Titan, A Lament Long Buried" boasts epic, hard-hitting songs carved in the traditional Hecate Enthroned style.
The album will feature cover art created by Erskine Designs and lyrically explore ancient British myths and legends through tracks like "'Adar Rhiannon'", "'The Boreal Monastery'", and "'Into A Vale Of Endless Snow.'" "Gallery Of Rotting Portraits" showcases the band's signature sound with a menacing veil delivered with crisp punch.
The song takes inspiration from the 'pagan sacrifices' of peat bogs, where ancient rituals were performed, only to find them stripped of power in modern times.
