In a recent interview with Tori Kravitz's YouTube show 'She's With The Band', Butcher Babies frontwoman Heidi Shepherd opened up about her experience becoming the sole lead singer of the band following Carla Harvey's departure in 2024.

When asked how it felt to be the sole singer, Shepherd shared: "Being a co-lead vocalist, I think that each of us had our own identities in this as well.

I think that I learned so much in all the years of the give-and-take.

I've run this band, this business out of my living room for the last almost 20 years.

And so it kind of really was just the next step, taking all those lessons that I had learned in the past and just kind of like putting it all in.

But it's been fine.

And I feel comfortable.

And I'm so lucky that I have my team." This sentiment is echoed by Shepherd's comments on public perception versus reality, where she noted: "Well, that is actually something I had to tackle in therapy.

That was the initial thing, is, 'People, are they even gonna believe in me? I've been the lead vocalist of this band for 20 years, but are they gonna think that I can still do it?'" Shepherd also spoke about her team's role in supporting her new solo lead singer venture, stating: "So when it came to moving into the shoes of just the sole lead in this, there's a responsibility to keep it going for these people.

And I think that I am also grateful for them for wanting to keep going as well." Butcher Babies recently released two new singles, "Lost In Your Touch" and "Sincerity", via Judge & Jury Records, with a new full-length album planned later this year.
