Swedish/American metallers IN FLAMES have announced the official recording debut of drummer Jon Rice, marking a significant lineup change. Rice joined the band in May 2025, following the departure of longtime drummer Tanner Wayne, who parted ways with the group in May 2025 after seven years. Wayne previously played with UNDERMINDED, SCARY KIDS SCARING KIDS and CHIODOS, and made his live debut with IN FLAMES in Brno, Czech Republic, in 2018. Rice has previously toured with BEHEMOTH, UNCLE ACID & THE DEADBEATS, THE RED CHORD, JOB FOR A COWBOY and SCORPION CHILD.

IN FLAMES is currently recording their fifteenth studio album, which will be the follow-up to 2023's "Foregone." The band has once again worked with Grammy-nominated producer Howard Benson, who has previously collaborated with MOTÖRHEAD, BODY COUNT and SEPULTURA, and engineer Mike Plotnikoff. Benson has worked with IN FLAMES since the release of their 2016 album "Battles."

The upcoming album will also mark the first with bassist Liam Wilson, who replaced Bryce Paul in 2023. Wilson made his live debut with IN FLAMES at the Release Athens festival in Greece on June 7, 2023. The band continues to tour in support of "Foregone," released in February 2023 via Nuclear Blast. The album combined the aggressive, metallic and melodic strengths of IN FLAMES' landmark records with the postmodern songwriting of their current era. Joe Rickard, who played drums from 2016 to 2019, handled mixing duties on "Foregone."
