IN FLAMES has confirmed the recording of its fifteenth studio album, marking the first time the band has worked with drummer Jon Rice in the studio.

The album, referenced as 'XV' in a video posted by guitarist Björn Gelotte on February 3, is set to be released as the band's follow-up to 2023's 'Foregone'.

The recording sessions are taking place at the Los Angeles studio of Grammy-nominated producer Howard Benson, who has collaborated with the band since 2016's 'Battles'.

Engineer Mike Plotnikoff is also involved in the production.

Drummer Jon Rice, who joined IN FLAMES in May 2025 for touring, has now officially begun recording with the band.

Rice previously played with BEHEMOTH, UNCLE ACID & THE DEADBEATS, THE RED CHORD, JOB FOR A COWBOY, and SCORPION CHILD.

His appointment follows the departure of drummer Tanner Wayne, who left the band in May 2025 after seven years.

Wayne had joined IN FLAMES in 2018 following Joe Rickard's exit, and made his live debut in Brno, Czech Republic, on July 4, 2018.

The band parted ways with bassist Bryce Paul in 2023, replacing him with Liam Wilson of THE DILLINGER ESCAPE PLAN, who made his live debut at the Release Athens festival on June 7, 2023.

'Foregone', released in February 2023 via Nuclear Blast, was the second IN FLAMES album with Wilson and the first with Chris Broderick on guitar.

The album was mixed by Joe Rickard at Benson's West Valley Recording Studios.

IN FLAMES continues to tour in support of 'Foregone' and has confirmed the new album is still in progress, with no official release date or timeline yet provided."
