The Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame has revealed its list of nominees for induction in 2026.
IRON MAIDEN and THE BLACK CROWES are among the 17 performers nominated, along with MARIAH CAREY, JEFF BUCKLEY, PHIL COLLINS, MELISSA ETHERIDGE, LAURYN HILL, BILLY IDOL, INXS, JOY DIVISION/NEW ORDER, NEW EDITION, OASIS, PINK, SHAKIRA, LUTHER VANROSS, and WU-TANG CLAN.
The nominees include a mix of iconic rock acts from various genres, with some artists being nominated for the first time.
IRON MAIDEN has been eligible for induction since 2004 but has only been nominated twice before.
The band's members would be inducted if they make it into the Hall Of Fame, although some past members are not included on the list.
In related news, BRUCE DICkinson has publicly expressed his disdain for the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame, calling it "an utter and complete load of bollocks" in a spoken-word performance in Australia.
However, this statement was taken out of context to make it seem like Dickinson was upset about IRON MAIDEN not being inducted.
Despite their long eligibility period, iconic hard rock and metal bands like MOTÖRHEAD have yet to be recognized by the institution.
The only metal or metal-adjacent acts to have made it into the Rock Hall so far are BLACK SABBATH, LED ZEPPELIN, METALLICA, AC/DC, JUDAS PRIEST, KISS, VAN HALEN, RUSH, GUNS N' ROSES, Ozzy Osbourne, and DEEP PURPLE.
The official inductees will be announced in April along with the "Musical Influence" and "Musical Excellence" awards, as well as the "Ahmet Ertegun Award" reserved for a prolific music industry veteran.
