Iron Maiden singer Bruce Dickinson has spoken with Australia's Heavy magazine about the band's new film, Burning Ambition, which hits theaters this Thursday.
The film offers a rare and intimate look at Iron Maiden's uncompromising vision and unwavering connection with their global army of fans.
It is a movie that refuses to sugar coat life inside of a successful heavy metal band, with moments of unflinching honesty that highlight pivotal moments of Iron Maiden's rise through the ranks with little thought given to playing things safe or by the book.
Dickinson revealed in an excerpt from his chat with Heavy that he was initially hesitant for the band to be involved in the documentary, wanting a hands-off approach so that someone else could tell their story without interference.
The film features interviews with prominent admirers including Javier Bardem, Lars Ulrich, and Chuck D, each speaking to Iron Maiden's influence on music, culture and generations of fans worldwide.
Formed in East London in 1975, Iron Maiden have grown into one of the world's most influential and enduring rock bands.
Across 50 years they have released 17 studio albums, sold over 100 million records, and performed almost 2,500 concerts across 64 countries.
The documentary arrives as the band continues its two-year Run For Your Lives world tour, which included a triumphant homecoming performance at London Stadium a short distance from where it all began five decades ago.
Iron Maiden: Burning Ambition is in theaters on May 7 for a limited time only.
