Sydney-based guitarist James Norbert Ivanyi has announced the release of his new album, The Phantasm Cozenage, on August 19.
The album marks a significant evolution in Ivanyi's career, expanding beyond progressive metal into cinematic storytelling and atmospheric psych-rock, with a focus on instrumental depth and emotional engagement.
The Phantasm Cozenage features ten tracks including Hex Mesmorism, a single released alongside a performance video filmed at Rancom Street Studios in Sydney.
The project sees Ivanyi move further from his established sound, building on earlier experimental works such as the acoustic Sigil and The Sine Intimation.
The album continues to blend progressive precision with trippy textures and expansive narrative structures, representing his most ambitious release to date.
Pre-orders for the album are available through James Ivanyi’s Bandcamp page.
The release follows a milestone year for Ivanyi, who as of January 2026, has three signature guitars with Suhr Guitars & JST Technologies.
Over the years, Ivanyi has performed internationally, sharing stages with artists including Haken, Katatonia, Soilwork, Caligula’s Horse, and I Built The Sky.
He has also appeared at major events such as Progfest, UK Tech-Fest, and The Melbourne Guitar Show.
The Phantasm Cozenage is set to be released under BraveWords Records, a label known for its roster of instrumental and extreme metal acts including ALCATRAZZ, Jack Starr, and Paul Di’Anno’s Warhorse.
The full tracklist includes Rune I, A Nascent Coven, The Brass Maleficium, Hex Mesmorism, The Athenor Wax, A Prismatic Eclipse, Wah Czar, The Alkahest, Hypnagogic Sojourn, and Rune II."
