Jay Buchanan, frontman of RIVAL SONS, has released a poignant cover of BLACK SABBATH's 'Changes' from the album Vol.
4 (1972).
The western-gothic-style cover was recorded for Rolling Stone France, with Buchanan finding personal resonance in the song after the past year's events.
He spent 18 months on tour with BLACK SABBATH around the world as main support on their "The End" tour.
In an interview, Ozzy Osbourne praised RIVAL SONS, saying they have a "great vibe" and are "good." Buchanan reflects on the anniversary of BLACK SABBATH's final charity stadium event "Back To The Beginning," where he bid farewell to Ozzy after 10 years together.
He notes that the song's chorus lyrics have special meaning for him.
The cover will be available on all streaming services July 1, 2026, and as a limited-edition seven-inch single at Fingerprints Records in Long Beach, California.
Buchanan is currently touring Scandinavia with two sold-out shows in Stockholm and Oslo.
He will then embark on a five-date solo U.K.
tour, including a headline slot at Steelhouse Festival on July 25.
The U.K.
dates follow the February release of Buchanan's critically acclaimed solo album "Weapons Of Beauty," which included one of Rolling Stone's best songs of 2026.
