In a new interview with The Garza Podcast, hosted by Suicide Silence guitarist Chris Garza, Jay Weinberg was asked about his tenure as drummer for Slipknot, particularly in regards to his departure nearly two and a half years ago.
Weinberg reflected on the situation, saying "No, no.
Much has been said about it, but I don't think living with regrets..." The split happened just two days after Jay played his final show with Slipknot on November 3, 2023 at the Hell & Heaven festival in Toluca, Mexico.
Weinberg discussed how he received a phone call from the band's manager informing him that the band had decided not to renew his contract.
He described feeling "shocked" and "full of questions." Weinberg also talked about the tense atmosphere within the band prior to his departure.
In November 2023, Slipknot released a statement saying it had made a creative decision to part ways with Weinberg.
Six days later, Weinberg shared on Instagram that he was heartbroken and blindsided to receive the phone call.
Weinberg has since joined several other bands, including Against Me! and Madball.
