KILLSWITCH ENGAGE singer Jesse Leach has opened up about the challenges of performing songs live that were originally written and recorded with the band's former frontman Howard Jones.

In a new interview with Heavy New York, Leach spoke candidly about his experiences singing songs like 'The End Of Heartache' and how they now resonate with him on a personal level.

When asked if those songs still hold meaning for him today, Leach shared: "They do now.

I'd say when I first started singing them, it was a little difficult for me 'cause I'd never really done that before in my career.

I've never really heard a song or read a song, I'd say, and had to perform it.

It's one thing when you're singing in your car and you can sort of relate to a song.

It's another thing when I'm standing in front of people and they're looking at me and I have to present it genuinely." Leach also revealed that after touring extensively with those songs, he has developed an emotional connection to the lyrics and now feels like he's "living inside" them.

However, Leach acknowledged that there may be fans who prefer Jones' original vocals on those tracks, but emphasized his commitment to delivering a genuine performance as KILLSWITCH ENGAGE's current frontman.

With LIGHT THE TORCH, formerly known as DEVIL YOU KNOW, also featuring Jones on their debut album with guitarist Francesco Artusato and drummer John Sankey, the singer has indeed been able to find new passion in music after years of battling personal issues including diabetes and manic depression.

The project is set to release its debut LP later this year.
